Who Can Hold a Weixin Wallet Balance?
Anyone with a verified Weixin account can hold a Weixin Wallet balance after completing identity verification within the app.
How Much Can Be Received Per Year?
Service availability and transaction limits follow applicable regulatory requirements and product rules. As a general guide, eligible passport holders can receive up to CNY 800,000 per year through this service. This figure can change based on official policy, so check the Transfez app or official WeChat Pay channels for the latest information before sending a large amount.
Are There Fees on WeChat Pay Transactions?
QR payments, P2P transfers, and Red Packets within WeChat Pay generally carry no transaction fee.
Does the Weixin Wallet Balance Expire?
No. The balance stays available until the account holder decides to spend it.
Can the Balance Be Withdrawn to a Bank Account?
Yes, as long as the account holder has linked a bank card issued in Mainland China to their Weixin account.
Are There Fees for Withdrawing the Balance?
Withdrawals follow WeChat Pay’s official rules, which include:
- A lifetime free withdrawal limit of CNY 1,000 for Weixin Balance per ID holder
- Once that limit is exceeded, a service fee of 0.1 percent of the withdrawal amount applies, with a minimum fee of CNY 0.1 per transaction
How Long Does a Transfer Take to Arrive?
Under normal circumstances, once the recipient’s details are verified, funds are credited within about 30 minutes. The recipient needs to complete their setup in the “跨境汇款 微汇款” Mini Program first, otherwise the transfer can’t be received.
Can the Recipient Use a Non China Phone Number?
Yes. As long as the phone number is linked to the recipient’s Weixin account, a non China number works fine for receiving funds.
Can the Recipient Forward the Money to Someone Else?
Once funds are received, the recipient can use WeChat Pay within the supported local payment scenarios and applicable product rules, such as paying merchants or shopping online. Any use outside those scenarios follows WeChat Pay’s official terms.
